SUMMARY:FINALISTS FOR THE 10TH GOLDEN SHIELD HERITAGE AWARDS ANNOUNCED
DESCRIPTION:The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC) in partnership with the Artscape Theatre will be hosting the 10th annual Golden Shield Heritage Awards this Heritage in the Western Cape province. The Awards recognise and acknowledge the significant roles that individuals\, communities\, groups\, and companies play in the management of heritage\, whether tangible\, intangible\, movable or immovable. \nThe GOSHA are one of  the most remarkable milestone in 2023 for the NHC. It marks a decade of the successful programme in partnership with various provincial departments and local authorities to restore the pride of heritage practice. The awards were conceived in 2007 and were implemented only in 2012 due to an intensive study of the environment which was through seminars\, conferences and observations made\, realising that there was a gap in the nation building and transformation space for a platform where the South African public could celebrate and cherish their heritage while being recognised for their excellence. \nDate: Thursday\, 14 September 2023\nVenue: Artscape Theatre\nTime: 17h00 for 18h00 \nThe honorary recipients who are starlights of the ceremony will be in two special categories of Lifetime Achievement and Ubuntu Honour: \n–        Lifetime Achievement \no   Prof Pitika Ntuli and \no   Mr Themba (Thembinkosi) Wakashe \n–        Ubuntu Honour \no   Ms Ria Ledwaba \nThe following are finalists in the various public categories whose winners will receive R30\,000 and the runners up R10\,000 each in addition to trophies\, certificates and hospitality: \n–        National Living Treasure \no   Dr Mthobeli Guma and \no   Prof Nokuzola Mndende \n  \n–        Preferred Heritage Destination \no   Melville Koppies \no   Miga Kgasi Museum \n  \n–        Young Heritage Activist \no   Sipho Hlakudi \no   Hlayisani Shiburi \n  \n–        Voice of Heritage \no   Dr. Monicca Thulisile Bhuda \no   Stef De Koker \n  \n–        Heritage Education \no   Cape Heritage Museum
