Justin Bellairs stands as one of South Africa’s premier jazz voices. As a lecturer in Jazz Studies at UCT, he nurtures the next generation of musicians. His distinguished career includes:
- Performing at Carnegie Hall in New York with Kesivan and The Lights, and touring widely across Europe and Africa
- Collaborating with top-tier jazz artists such as Feya Faku, Nduduzo Makhathini, Kyle Shepherd, and more
- A rich academic pedigree: a BMus with distinction from UCT and an MMus from Rhodes University, with international study at Norway’s Academy of Music
Under Justin’s direction, the UCT Big Band showcases exceptional ensemble musicianship and deeply expressive improvisation.
