This August, as part of the HEAT Winter Arts Festival, we proudly spotlight the exceptional work of Shaunez Benting and M. Whaleed Ahjum – two of Cape Town’s most compelling visual storytellers – at the Sisonke Art Gallery, located in the iconic Cape Heritage Hotel.
Running from 6–16 August 2025, the exhibition is presented in proud collaboration with House Union Block (HUB), administered by Spier Arts Trust, and Our Cape Town Heritage.
Telling Untold Stories Through Art
Both artists bring deeply personal yet widely resonant perspectives, drawing from themes of Cape Malay heritage, cultural identity, and collective resilience. Their new works promise to be as moving as they are meaningful—each piece unveiling a rich, unique story that reflects the lived experiences and memories of local communities.
